Assistive Devices Hackathon | Toowoomba

With assistive devices expected to be worth $1 billion by 2020, the Queensland Government is looking to put our makers and manufacturers on the fast track to being involved in this exciting industry.

The Assistive Devices Hackathons will be two-and-a-half-day intensive making marathons held in Mackay, Toowoomba and Townsville between July and August 2017. People with a disability - and a well-identified need - will work with a team of makers, mentored by a manufacturing industry expert, to develop a prototype that meets their needs.

The hackathons will be held at venues that offer teams a making space and workshop with tools and equipment for welding, 3D-printing, sewing, soldering, cutting, woodwork, etc. Mentors will circulate among activities in their designated hackathon, providing guidance and facilitating an exchange of ideas.
