Entry requirements

Students must be employed as an apprentice or trainee and have a signed Registered Training Contract, stating TAFE Queensland South West is the Supervising Registered Training Organisation (SRTO).

Timetable

Delivery of this program is available as a combination of workplace training and may include some delivery at TAFE. Where workplace training is selected, a Teacher will be assigned to attend your workplace to deliver training and assess your skills and knowledge. Delivery at TAFE consists of face-to-face classes after being released from the workplace by your employer. The duration of your attendance will vary depending on the stage and the units of competency specified in your individual training plan.

TAFE attendance times: Mondays from 10am to 4.30pm, Tuesdays to Thursday 8am to 4.30pm, and Fridays from 8am to 2.30pm (please refer to training notices for minor variations to start and end times).

Units

The successful achievement of this qualification requires you to complete 12 core units and completion of Group A Mechanical Trade stream units to the value of at least 40 points plus completion of units from Group B Certificate III Trade specialisation units to the value of at least 73 points, selected from the list below. Electives may differ between TAFE Queensland locations and regions.
