Entry requirements

You must hold a Cerificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade to undertake this post trade course.

Students must be employed as an apprentice and have a signed Registered Training Contract stating TAFE Queensland South West is the Supervising Registered Training Organisation (SRTO).

Timetable

Delivery of this program is available as a combination of workplace training and may include some delivery at TAFE. Where workplace training is selected, a Teacher will be assigned to attend your workplace to deliver training and assess your skills and knowledge. Delivery at TAFE consists of face-to-face classes after being released from the workplace by your employer. The duration of your attendance will vary depending on the stage and the units of competency specified in your individual training plan.

TAFE attendance times: Mondays from 10am to 4.30pm, Tuesday to Thursday 8am to 4.30pm, and Fridays from 8am to 2.30pm (please refer to training notices for minor variations to start and end times).

Please note, timetable schedules may change each semester.

Units

The successful achievement of this qualification requires you to complete units from Group A Specialisation electives to the value of at least 12 points and completion of Group B electives to bring the total value to at least 36 points. Depending on when you completed your Certiificate III in Engineering you may need to complete 1 core unit listed below. Electives may differ between TAFE Queensland locations and regions.

If you are already employed as an apprentice or trainee, let your employer know that you want TAFE Queensland South West to be your Supervising Registered Training Organisation (SRTO), then contact an Australian Apprenticeships Centre to organise your training contract.
