Entry requirements

Students must be employed as an apprentice or trainee and have a signed Registered Training Contract, stating TAFE Queensland South West is the Supervising Registered Training Organisation (SRTO).

Resources required

You will require access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online systems, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for students to use at a number of TAFE Queensland locations.

You will also require a valid and appropriate email address, closed-in shoes, and personal stationery (pen and paper).

Timetable

As an apprenticeship, this qualification is delivered full-time over a nominal term of up to 36 months (3 years).

The training plan and order of study will be negotiated between the apprentice, employer and Teacher/RTO representative upon sign up. This training plan and order can be updated at any stage throughout the course of study.

It is expected that you will undertake a minimum of approximately 12 hours of self-directed study each week. Throughout your training you will be supported by teachers from a TAFE Queensland South West location closest to your residential address. We have teachers based in Dalby, Chinchilla, Kingaroy, Roma, Springfield, Toowoomba and Warwick. Workplace visits will occur each term (dependant on location). These visits will be negotiated with Employer, Apprentice and Teacher.

Important Information

​To be eligible for a apprenticeship you are required to work a minimum of 15 hours per week in a regulated Education and Care service.

Units

The successful achievement of this qualification requires you to complete 28 units in total, including 23 core units and 5 elective units from the list below.

The training plan and order of study will be negotiated between apprentice, employer and Teacher/RTO representative upon sign up. This training plan and order can be updated at any stage throughout the course of study. If the apprentice is under the age of 18 years of age a parent/guardian maybe required to attend sign up.
