Hairdressing Facilities at TAFE Queensland South West

At TAFE Queensland South West we offer modern and exciting facilities for our hairdressing students. You can study a Career Path to Hairdressing, a Certificate II and a Certificate III in Hairdressing through classroom training in a fully equipped salon to develop your skills and build your confidence.

Unique Student Identifier (USI) - Student Information

From 1 January 2015 if you are undertaking a nationally recognised program at TAFE Queensland you will need to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Learn all about the USI and how to get your USI for your study.

Entry requirements

Students must be employed as an apprentice or trainee and have a signed Registered Training Contract, stating TAFE Queensland South West is the Supervising Registered Training Organisation (SRTO).

Resources required

You will also require a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online systems, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for students to use at a number of TAFE Queensland South West locations.


Delivery of this program is available as a combination of workplace training and will include some delivery at TAFE. Where workplace training is negotiated, a Teacher will be assigned to attend your workplace to deliver training and assess your skills and knowledge. Delivery at TAFE consists of face-to-face classes after being released from the workplace by your employer. Students have options to attend classes one day per week, or to participate in block training (week long blocks). The duration of your attendance will vary depending on the attendance options negotiated with your employer, and the units of competency specified in your individual training plan.


The successful achievement of this qualification requires you to complete 28 units in total, including 21 core units and 7 elective units.

Note: there are 3 electives included below, that are additional to the required 7 electives. Elective choices will be negotiated between the employer, student and TAFE.
