Hairdressing Facilities at TAFE Queensland South West

At TAFE Queensland South West we offer modern and exciting facilities for our hairdressing students. You can study a Career Path to Hairdressing, a Certificate II and a Certificate III in Hairdressing through classroom training in a fully equipped salon to develop your skills and build your confidence.

Entry requirements

Students must be employed as an apprentice or trainee and have a signed Registered Training Contract, stating TAFE Queensland South West is the Supervising Registered Training Organisation (SRTO).

You will also require access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online systems, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for students to use at a number of TAFE Queensland locations.

Timetable

The nominal term for full-time trainees is 12 months. School-based/part-time trainees may have a duration of up to 2 years.

Delivery of this program is available as a combination of workplace training and will include some delivery at TAFE. Where workplace training is selected, a Teacher will be assigned to attend your workplace to deliver training and assess your skills and knowledge. Delivery at TAFE consists of face-to-face classes after being released from the workplace by your employer. The duration of your attendance will vary depending on the stage and the units of competency specified in your individual training plan.

There will be a requirement for school-based trainees to attend during school holiday periods - up to a maximum of 6 days.

The successful achievement of this qualification requires you to complete 12 units in total, including 8 core units and 4 elective units.
