Unique Student Identifier (USI) - Student Information

Although there are no formal entry requirements for this course, it is recommended that you have sound literacy and numeracy skills.

Resources required

You will require access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online systems, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for students to use at a number of TAFE Queensland South West locations.

You will also require a valid email address, and personal stationery (pen and paper).


Classes will be delivered 2 days per week over 1 Term (up to 10 weeks).

  • Bundamba - Mondays and Tuesdays from 9am to 3pm
  • Kingaroy - Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 3pm
  • Toowoomba - Mondays and Tuesdays from 9am to 3pm
  • Springfield - Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 3pm

In addition to time spent in class, you will be required to undertake some independent/self-directed study (outside of class time).

Please note that timetabling information is subject to change, and may vary each semester/intake.


Placement is not mandatory, however, you are encouraged to seek work experience in a retail establishment. You are encouraged to approach retailers within your area to minimise travel. This will be discussed on your first day of class and paperwork will be provided to those who wish to take up this opportunity.


The successful achievement of this qualification requires you to complete 13 units in total, including 8 core units and 5 elective units.

Payment Plan

If you have difficulty paying the full cost of a course up front you might be eligible for a payment plan. This will allow you to pay for your course in instalments, rather than one upfront payment at the time of enrolment.


The Queensland Government will offset the cost of study for eligible students. You will still need to pay for a portion of your study costs. The amount above is what you will need to pay.

Certificate 3 Guarantee

You can receive a subsidy towards one Certificate III qualification from a list of eligible courses.

You're eligible for the Certificate 3 Guarantee if you:

  • are 15 years or older and no longer in school
  • live in Queensland full time
  • are an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or temporary resident with the necessary visa or work permits
  • don't currently hold (or are enrolled in) a certificate 3 or higher level qualification (not including qualifications completed at school and foundation skills training).
