How to enrol

Unique Student Identifier (USI) - Student Information

From 1 January 2015 if you are undertaking a nationally recognised program at TAFE Queensland you will need to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Learn all about the USI and how to get your USI for your study.

Entry requirements

Students must be employed as an apprentice or trainee and have a signed Registered Training Contract, stating TAFE Queensland South West is the Supervising Registered Training Organisation (SRTO).

You will also require access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online systems, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for students to use at a number of TAFE Queensland locations.

When attending blocks/classes at TAFE, you will need to bring along your learning and assessment materials.

Timetable

This course is delivered flexibly, over a 1 year duration. You will complete your training externally, and also participate in block training at TAFE. Within the duration of the program, you must attend a minimum of 5 training blocks at TAFE. Please refer to the Timetable for detail regarding block dates and times. To attend blocks, you must book in for the blocks you will be attending 14 days prior to the block commencement date. ABSTUDY is available if you are eligible and wish to attend blocks at Toowoomba and/or Nurunderi. To meet ABSTUDY requirements you must apply a minimum of 6 weeks prior to the block dates.

Important Information

The following is strongly recommended if you would like to undertake this qualification:
Screening for, and if necessary, vaccination against the following diseases (NHMRC Australian Immunisation Handbook 9th edition):

  • Measles
  • Tuberculosis (Mantoux test and x-ray)
  • Varicella zoster virus (chicken pox)
  • Pertussis (whooping cough)

Disclaimer

The elective units available may vary between locations, delivery modes and intakes.

Eligible apprentices and trainees who meet the Queensland state funding requirements will be charged a student contribution fee of $1.60 per nominal hour. For more information on the number of units funded for this course visit Queensland Training Information Service (QTIS).

Nominal hours for each unit will be outlined in the agreed training plan, which will be provided to the employer and apprentice or trainee, at the time of induction.

Non-funded apprentices and trainees will be charged a fee for service cost. The student and employer contribution fee will be outlined in the training plan and agreed to, prior to the commencement of training.
