Entry requirements

One of the great things about TAFE Queensland is how accessible it is. Everyone deserves the chance to earn a nationally-recognised qualification and take that first step towards a great career. That's why we take into account a combination of your previous qualifications, studies, and experience when you apply to study with us.

Unique Student Identifier

From 1 January 2015 if you are undertaking a nationally recognised program at TAFE Queensland you will need to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

This includes study of an apprenticeship or skill set, certificate or diploma course.

A Unique Student Identifier, which is made up of ten numbers and letters, gives you access to your own online USI account. It will look something like this: 3AW88YH9U5.

Your USI account will contain all your nationally recognised training records and results from 1 January 2015 onwards. Your results from 2015 will be available in your USI account in 2016.

You can create your USI online at www.usi.gov.au or or with your permission we can do this on your behalf.

Each course is different

For most courses, you need your Year 10 or Year 12 Certificate or equivalent. But don't worry if you don't have that -there are other ways to get your foot in the door. We can help you complete year 11 or 12 at TAFE.

We can also take into account your skills, knowledge and experience through Recognition of Prior Learning.
